How a language is learned

A language stays when you come back to it.

You do not learn a language in one long sitting. You meet a little of it, hear how it sounds, try to use it, and come back before it fades. That return is how it stays.

Start where you already are

If you know nothing, begin at the beginning. If you already know some of the language, do not pretend you are starting from zero. A step that is too easy wastes the time. A step that is too hard makes you stop.

See it, hear it, then try to use it

A useful sitting is a few new words, the way they are pronounced, and a short exercise that asks you to recall them. Looking at a word is not the same as being able to use it. What you finish stays with you.

Come back while it is still close

Forgetting begins in the gap between lessons. The next sitting should be soon, and it should continue from the place you stopped, not from the first page. What you review stays. What you leave for weeks has to be learned again.

Surf Language follows that path.

You choose a language and a level. A lesson gives you the words, the sound, and a short exercise. Your account keeps the place you left, so the next visit starts there.

A level you can stand on

Lessons follow the CEFR scale, from A1 to C2. You choose the step that matches what you know. You are not dropped into a lesson written for someone else.

A certificate for a level you finish

When you finish a CEFR level in Surf Language, you can get a Level Completion Certificate for that language and level. It records completion inside Surf Language. It does not replace an official language exam.

Yes. Create a free account and start learning. You can use Surf Language in the browser, or download it from the App Store and Google Play.

Which languages can I learn?

This site lists 25 languages. Open the Languages page and choose one. A language in the menu is only for reading these pages. It is not a lesson, and it does not mean the app menus are in that language.

Do I get a certificate?

If you finish a CEFR level in Surf Language, you can receive a Level Completion Certificate for that language and level. It records completion inside Surf Language. It does not replace an official language exam.
