Where it is used

Persian is official in Iran. Dari, a closely related standard, is official in Afghanistan. Tajik, the related language of Tajikistan, is written in Cyrillic.

How it is written

Persian uses the Perso-Arabic script and is written from right to left. The extra letters پ چ ژ گ belong to it. There are no capital letters.

A useful place to start

Letters connect, and short vowels are often left unwritten. Listening helps while you learn the shapes.

Who it is for

For someone who wants to get closer to Persian, for a trip, work, study, or a conversation.

In the app

In the app you choose Persian and a level when that language is open for study. This page does not give a lesson count and does not promise an exam course.
