What you will get

The English test asks about meaning in context, articles, verb forms, connectors, and replies that fit the situation. A short routine text is not scored in the same way as a paragraph that argues a point. Listening, writing, and speaking stay outside the result.

An estimated level or a range, a note on each skill that was actually tested, and study ideas based on the questions you found harder. The result is for learning. It is not an official CEFR certificate and it is not a pass or fail exam.

  • Listening Not assessed
  • Writing Not assessed
  • Speaking Not assessed

How the test behaves

The first questions cover everyday and intermediate language. Later questions move toward the level your answers suggest. One correct answer does not raise the estimate by a whole level, and one miss does not cancel the rest. If two neighbouring levels both remain possible, the result says so.

Skills left out of the score

Listening is not included, because this test has no reviewed audio. Writing and speaking are not measured by multiple-choice questions, so they are reported as not assessed. A missing skill is not treated as a zero.

Questions

Is this an official CEFR certificate?

No. The result is an estimate to help you choose what to study. Surf Language does not award an official CEFR certificate through this test.

Do I need an account or a payment card?

No. The test is free. It does not ask for your name, email, phone number, or payment details.

Which skills are scored?

Vocabulary, grammar, reading, and communicative language use. Listening, writing, and speaking are shown as not assessed.

How long is it, and can the questions get harder?

Most people need about 10 to 20 minutes. A typical test has somewhere between 20 and 35 questions. The exact number changes with your answers, so the page does not promise a fixed number remaining.

Can I leave and come back?

On the same browser, an unfinished test can be continued for seven days. After that it expires. You can also start again. The result is not published on a public page.
