be y have
be dice quién es alguien o cómo está. have dice qué posee alguien. Las formas de presente son irregulares, así que hay que aprenderlas como un conjunto.
Qué vas a practicar
- Usa am, is y are con el sujeto correcto.
- Usa have con I, you, we y they, y has con he, she e it.
- Habla de la edad con be, no con have.
Explicación
be
be tiene tres formas de presente. I am, a menudo I’m. He is, she is y it is. You are, we are y they are. El pronombre you usa are para una persona y para varias. Un oficio usa este verbo: She is a teacher. Aquí el nombre del oficio lleva a o an.
have
have tiene dos formas de presente. I have, you have, we have y they have. He has, she has y it has. Úsalo para la posesión y la familia: I have a brother, She has two cats. La pregunta es Do you have a brother? con do, no Have you a brother? en el inglés moderno habitual.
| Sujeto | be | have |
|---|---|---|
| I | am | have |
| you | are | have |
| he / she / it | is | has |
| we | are | have |
| they | are | have |
Edad y oficios
La edad se dice con be: I am twenty o I am twenty years old. I have twenty years es un calco de lenguas que usan el verbo de posesión para la edad, y no es inglés. El origen también se dice con be: I am from Berlin. Una sensación también puede ir con be: I am tired.
Ejemplos
- She is a teacher.Ella es profesora.
- I am twenty years old.Tengo veinte años.
- I have a brother.Tengo un hermano.
- He has two cats.Él tiene dos gatos.
- They are from Berlin.Ellos son de Berlín.
Errores frecuentes
- A He have y she have les falta la forma con -s. La forma es has.
- No omitas el verbo. She teacher necesita is: She is a teacher.
